Lions, Lions, Lions!

Sunday was an exciting day. A commercial shoot was scheduled several hours north in an area that closely resembled the Serengeti plains of Africa. And just what animals do you think were stars for this African setting? LIONS, of course!! Here are two of the actors for the shoot: Leo & Lily, two special 12 week old Barbary Lions flown in from our partners out east. They were quite a handfull at this age, rough & tumble non-stop for hours. This was obviously the best part of my day!

Just Another Day…

After the holidays, the animals appear to have as much energy left as us humans. I went to visit some of them and they had the right idea of how to spend the day.

Gifts for Primates

Animals like to receive gifts, too!  Our little Mozart, a cotton-topped tamarin, enjoyed his specially-wrapped box of meal worms given by volunteer Micha this holiday season.  It turns out that raisen boxes are perfect for gift-wrapping presents for tiny primates!

You, too, can provide a gift to our primates during this season of giving!  Donations big and small go a long way in helping animals like Mozart live healthy, happy lives.  Happy Holidays!

An Opossum Adventure

Today, we took Sleepy, one of our Opossums, for a walk around the facility. Along the way he found all kinds of interesting smells that he had to check out. The one thing he made sure to do during his walk is scent mark everything. First he decided to go for a bamboo tree and then he was onto more excited objects like the outside lights. He worked his way around the compound and he had quite a great time along the way.

Here are a few cute videos of his adventure.

Conan’s Tonight Show a Hit w/Tiki Bird

Wild Wonders animals made a holiday appearance with Discovery’s Nigel Marven on Conan O’Brian’s Tonight Show Friday.  Unfortunately our amazing kinkajou acrobats were cut from the show, but our “Bird Whisperer”  Tamara and her amazing mini-Toucan Tiki made the show a success! Check out the link below.
